Optical Illusions are one of the only things that can mess with our mind. But the question is HOW! Let me tell you...
In order to know about optical illusions, you need to know how our eyes can see things. The act of seeing something begins with light rays bouncing off an object. These rays enter our eyes through the clear, outer portion of your eye (cornea). The cornea bends the rays as they go through the pupil of your eye.The iris, the colored portion of your eye contracts or expands to change the amount of light that goes through. Finally, the light rays go through the lens of your eyes which changes shape to target the light towards a thin tissue in the back of your eye that is full of nerve cells which detect light (retina). The cells in the retina (rods+cones) turn the light into electrical signals. That gets sent through the optic nerve where the brain interprets them. This entire process takes about 1/10 of a second but thats long enough to make your brain confused. By using patterns, colors and light the brain can be tricks. I really need to clarify something - optical illusions are NOT magic. At all. Period.
Now the real reason why you probably came here was to look at some optical illusions. Look below :)
These are some of my favorites.
