The nervous system controls all your actions from blinking to walking. Eating, kicking a ball, putting on shoes are all actions that are gone through the nervous system. As you might have already noticed, it does a LOT! If you want to know keep reading to find out the secret.......
Neurons. Yes just neurons. Well there are more building blocks. Now you might just be thinking
A. What are neurons?!
B. Neurons!!!! Those ugly little cell things,I've heard of them what on Earth do they do
C. I already know this and I'm getting bored half to death
Neurons are a specialized cell transmitting nerve impulses. I will explain that in kid-friendly terms ( just like I promised on the first page). A neuron is a cell with a nucleus. There are branch-like things called dendrites which are attached to the end of neurons. Dendrites receive signals. So pretty much when a stimulus( a message) is carried through the brain it travels through the neurons to the brain.

If you want to know more about neurons than check out a website called CyberSurgeons. I did not really go into detail so I really recommend looking it up on google but my main point was that neurons connect to each other and together they link the information all the way up until they reach the brain.
Now that we now neurons are the only reasons we are alive we can wonder how fast does information travel in the brain. Google gets information in 0.21 seconds (example). Our brains are like that so fast we don't have to wait 2 or 3 minutes. And your brain is better than Google because you don't need Wi-Fi to use it.
Transmission can be as slow as 0.5 meters/second or transmission can be as fast as 120 meters/second! That is the same as going 268 mph!!!!!!!!
Imagine if we took 2 minutes for a message to transmit from wherever to your brain. You would be dead. We need to repay our brains, they keep us alive! Exercise, exercise and exercise some more. It all right to be a lazy couch potato sometimes but don't do that everyday. You are NOT repaying your brain by watching T.V. So get out there and MOVE IT!!
